A visit from the Water Police and a swim in the pool at Kingfisher Bay

We spent Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th April anchored slightly north of Kingfisher Bay Resort. The resort occupies a peaceful position east of Maryborough and was lovely and sheltered.
The crew enjoyed a swim in the resort pool which is open to day visitors. There were also some basic showers at the Sand Bar pool which had hot running water.

We had high hopes of resort style drinks and meals by the pool, but the swarms of midges and resort prices couldn't compete with the smoked trout and asparagus from Noosa markets (courtesy indie singer Pete Allan's sister) waiting back at the boat, and the tide was going out  a long way by that point across the mudflats.

We got our spa mud treatment as we were sucked into the mudflats walking back to the zodiac.

Mud  treatment resort style

We were paid a visit by the Gladstone Water Police who dropped by the boat, asked us an awful lot of questions and photographed the boat and the Captain from many angles.  They were also concerned about whether the Easter Bunny would be able to track us down.

Constable, we are but poor humble sailors heading northwards.

Perhaps their suspicions had been alerted by the Captain's preponderance of facial hair and lack of fixed address, or perhaps there are Beneteaus up and down the east coast engaged in shady activities and attempting to fly under the Easter Bunny's radar.

We later saw them poolside at the resort, so maybe they were just down for a conference.

Dingo footprints but no actual dingoes sighted. Hope they don't take out the Bunny.
After the few restless nights preceding, it was wonderful to catch up on a few zzzs in the peaceful surrounds.

The endless quest for an edible fish

But time was ticking on, so on Thursday April 17th it was to up anchor and head away from endless intertidal mudflats to the clearer waters and white sand of Platypus Bay on northwest Fraser Island.
